Decoupage a Vintage Witch Halloween Photo

Pumpkin Witch by Collage Sheet Girl

Celebrate the Season with Halloween Photo Decoupage
It's quirky, fun and just plain silly

  • Find an old vintage photo, the grungier the better. This will give your project a creepy Halloween look and feel.
  • Don't use the original, make a copy of the print.
  • Purchase sticker paper found at your local office supply store.
  • Using the sticker paper, create a page of hand drawn elements using a fine tip marker.
  • Draw cartoony pumpkins, wands and witch hats.
  • Cut out your elements.
  • Peel off the sticky backing and place.
  • Finally, you can frame your finished photo with an old ornate frame or a simple frame painted black.

Have fun with this project and if you like it, please leave a comment.

Thanks for looking!

Making and Selling Decoupage Jars

Decoupage Jars
Recycled Jar Art

I have so many people interested in decoupage lessons I just copied this from my web site to share. if you like this please follow  this blog.  Because i will be adding more soon.
I love jars. I never throw them away. I alway re-purpose them using my images and adding a little paint and old jewelry. I use them for storage, give them as gifts, or sell them.

It is very green to recycle and it is very fun to make a little green while you are doing it.

Here Is How I recycle My Jars

I clean my jars and lids in the washer

I remove my labels under hot running water and use Goo Gone to get rid of the sticky residue.

If I am going to paint my lid I either use metal paint 2 oz. tubes I purchase at the craft store or I prime my lid with Kilz Primer and paint let that dry then paint my color.

Before I apply my image, I clean the outside of my jar again with rubbing alcohol to remove any grease.

I apply my image following the How To Make Stickers tutorial.

Or print out image using sticky paper and cover with clear contact paper to protect it.

To paint gold swirls, I use fabric paints in a tube found at the craft store.

I apply Swarovski Crystals right to the gold paint

Here is am example of using vintage jewelry on a decoupage jar.
This is so sparkling pretty!

To add vintage rhinestone jewelry like I did in the witches Brew Jar, I use a glue called E-6000 That can be found at Home Depot or any craft store.

Pricing Your Re-Purposed Jars

Many people ask me how I price my jars. The jars are basically free but for the sake of pricing I use the cost of the item plus supplies x 3 plus a little extra.

The Witches Brew  jar was once  strawbeery jam that cost $2.00 plus supplies of a vintage diamond necklace that cost 50 cents purchased at the flea market.

That's $2.50 x 3 = $7.50 plus I added $1.00  The price of the Witches Brew Jar is $8.50

That means not only do I get my jam for free while helping the environment, I also make money to buy more jam.

It is good to have  variety of sizes and prices if you are selling jars.

Good luck with your Jar Art

Thanks

DriftWood Fish Painting Class in Maine

Every year friends and family get together in York, Maine for a week.
This year I thought it would be fun to teach the kids how to paint my colorful Driftwood Fish.

After a day at the beach it was so fun to sit in the sunshine in the back yard of the cottage and paint together.
They all did a wondeful job!

In the evening they were excited to gather there own drift wood they found on Short Sands Beach.  Each plan to paint more fish when they got home..

Pictured holding some sea blue jeweled fish are Brelee and Audra.

The Art of the Bigger Sale - Use Beautiful Tags

Ziegfeld Girls Toile Scrapbooking Tags-tags, collage, sheets, feminine, paris, toile, eiffel tower, digital, printable vintage papers, ziegfeld, kate bangs, new hampshire, pink, brown
When selling vintage or handmade items, don't use any old generic sticker, use your own unique beautiful tag and you can increase your sales. I designed this digital tag with bold colors and striking images. It draws customers in to take a closer look and best of all, it's a digital sheet so you can print as many as you need; whenever you need.

Here are some very good reasons to have beautiful price tags:
1. Your tag is part of your brand and when people see it they know it is your product. It tells customers you care about your product and it sets you apart from other sellers.
2. They are little pieces of art. I always remember the artisans and their products when I see a beautiful tag.
3. A tag is tactile. People love to touch things when they shop.
4. Your tag gives information about your business, services, and products.

Here's a great tip:
An artisan once told me she gets a large chunk of her business from one simple line she write on her tag - Custom Orders Welcomed

3 Simple Things To Increase Your Shop Sales

Do you sell vintage jewelry or smaller items on Etsy, eBay or your website? Here are 3 simple things you can do for greater success!

1. Great Photos... This is the most important thing you can do to increase your sales. You don't have to be an award winning photographer but do the best you can. Let people really see what it is you sell. Add a few different views of your item. Add close-ups and use natural light. As you do this simple thing, you will naturally get better and better.

2. Display... Never underestimate the art of display. Beautifully themed displays are like going to an Art Gallery and they will keep your customers coming back just to see what you have new in your shop. I like to use old papers and vintage photos.

3. Inventory... Have lots of items to choose from in your shop and add new items often. It will give your shop a successful look and feel. It also encourages multiple sales.

Good Luck and I wish you many sales! Kate

Decoupage Jars with Vintage Photographs and Rhinestone Glam

I love to recyle jars and bottles. It is sooo simple. All you need is some old Flea Market rhinestone bracelets, old photograph copies, and glue.
Nothing could be easier, just look at the beautiful results!

Here's how I made mine.

Clean the bottle.
You could print out your old images using sticker sheets.
Cut out image and seal with clear contact paper.
Stick image on front of your jar.
Glue rhinestone border.

For the pendant top, I made mine with soldered glass and one of my images sheets titled 'Inspirational Words'.

You can purchase something similar at the craft store.

Decoupage Furniture with Vintage Music Sheets

The name of my daytime business is www.periwinkle painters.com
We are interior painters, faux finishers and furniture painters. Here is a fun idea for decoupage I'd like to share with you.

This is a lovely old Flea Market piece. We painted it a creamy white.
Then rubbed it with Burnt Umber oil paint just on the edges to give it a warm aged look.
I decoupaged strips of antique music sheet to the side panels and add a painted hydrangea on the drawer front.
Below are a few before images. Takes a lot of ugly to make pretty is what we say in the studio.

Making One Dollar Sweet Dream Baby Sign

Sweet Dreams Baby

I just love the Dollar Store and the $1.00 frames they sell. They are such a bargain! You can make oodles of these pretty little signs at that price.

How I made My Sign
I made 2 signs, one for a girl and one for a boy. Printed them out using a Glossy Kodak Photo Paper 4" x 6" using my home printer and simply framed them with my super $1.00 frame.

I did paint this frame a creamy white using Ben Moore Linen White paint just because I have that at home. You could use any creamy white paint and get the same results.
Want to make your own?

Have fun visiting my site http://www.collagesheetgirl.com/
My signs are a bargain tooo. You are welcome to sell what you make. If you do, I wish you much success! Kate

Queen of Everything!

How Funny Is This! I often purchase my vintage images from auctions. I search though 1000's of listings looking for that one unique image before I put in a bid. Then I bid high, knowing I have only one chance to win and bring another specialty item to my customers.
When I saw this one, I just had to have it. This fairy cat postcard was originally black and white. I loved the postmark date of 1906, grungy worn edges and wear and tear; perfect for vintage inspired arts.
To view this and other selections, visit my website http://www.collagesheetgirl.com/
Enjoy, Kate
