I love canning, drying and storing food that I grow or purchase from the Boston HayMarket on the weekends. 

It feels great to prepare and store healthy whole foods for my family and for the future.

I love everything about it except it is kinda ugly.

 I am a women and I naturally like to make my home and everything in it comforable and beautiful.

Now my jars look so pretty I have trouble keepng my family from eating them or  myself giving them as gifts.

So I have to extra when I store.

Custom Painted or Decoupage Furniture

This is a piece a shop owner brought over for me to paint.  As a vintage furniture painter
I often get calls from antique and consignment shop to paint pieces that
have not sold. I give them a romantic fresh look.

Many times to save money they paint the base coat.  On this piece the base coat is Ben Moore Linen White. I added the shabby florals and bright white accent color.

I charge a flat hourly fee. (If you have seen my you tube Kathryn Bangs you can see how fast I paint) That way the shop owner can bring me a bunch of pieces and in a short period of time they have a new collection for there shop or website.

Shabby Roses Success Story.
I once painted a vintage vanity for a shop just outside of Boston. This vanity had sat in the shop for months the cost was only $50.00 but still it had no takers. I painted it a beautiful yellow added some white stripe and blue roses. I came out very pretty.
That piece sold within the week for $600.00... Romantic pretty is always in style.

Make A Vintage Altered Witch Framed Photograph

It's time to gather some friends and create Bewitching Art

 We will use a few simple steps to cast this Magical Art Spell

Frames from the dollar store. The more ornate the better.

To age frame rub with Black acrylic 2 oz. paint from the local craft store

VINTAGE WITCH PHOTOGRAPH

Below you will find The 2 Altered witches photographs. Copy and save image to your computer and print as many as you need. You can also re size if needed to fit your frame.

Cut out the red witch and bats.

Tape to the background.

Place in black painted frame

Your done

The best art projects are often the simplest!

Baby Angels Folk Art by Kate Bangs

I love drawing these sweet baby angel portraits. I find when they are finished each one has there own personality.

if you are going to draw baby angels I suggest using Prisma colored pencils.
You can find them at any craft store in the fine art department.

For paper I like heavy water color cold press. Tear the edges for that hand made folk look .

Decoupage a Scrabble Tile Pendant Lesson

Working on some Scrabble Tile sheets for my folks that make and sell pendants. If you want to make a Domino Pendant, here's how I make them: Print out a collage sheet. Cut to your domino size. Paint the Domino with Modge Podge. Apply image and press to get out all the bubbles under the image. Paint the top layer with Modge Podge and let dry.
Glue a big bead to the top of the domino. To hang, string silk cording thru bead.
You're done!

How To Paint Furniture:
Lightly sand
Paint with Kilz primer, let dry
Paint furniture color of your choice
Let dry
Seal with polyurethane


How To Decoupage:

Cut out blue background
Decoupage this on table top using Modge Podge (found at the local craft store)
Let dry
Seal with polyurethane
